Here's a little bit about the author and her blog in her own words:
"My name is Nicole Blanchett Neheli. I'm a journalism professor at Sheridan Institute of Technology and a section editor for J-Source (The Canadian Journalism Project). Prior to joining the academic universe, I worked at Citytv in Toronto for about ten years, mostly as a news show producer and writer. This blog started as a platform for my Master's research. My thesis proposal, interviews, final thesis, and blogs related to my research are all posted.
Although my degree is finished, I'm still keenly interested in participatory journalism and its impact on mainstream media and public discourse. Can citizen journalists and traditional broadcast media working together improve news content with more diversified storytelling? I'm not just talking about using youtube video, or a viewer's comment, but sometimes letting the audience tell the story. My goal is to create a conversation about citizen journalism, convergence, centralized ownership, and the future of journalism. Any comments posted may be used in future academic papers, articles, or conference presentations. Thanks for dropping in!"
